Chapter two: Trust the process.

I am the type of person who hopes for a better day. Although, it may be difficult to see the glass half full rather than half empty at times. Its essential to acknowledge the importance of hope and gratitude in their own ways. Whether its being optimistic about spring coming early or something deeper like your future.
Our intentions become our reality.
What you radiate outward in your thoughts, feelings, metal pictures and words, you attract into your life.
-Catherine Ponder
For example, if you wake up and one thing doesn't go right either you stub your toe or find out you're out of coffee our normal human instinct is to say, "today just isn't my day." Then, for the rest of the day you're focusing on all the bad things that continue to happen. But why cant you have a good day despite something that happened and let it dictate the mood for the rest of the day?
Where I'm at
New doors open when you least expect it. In my case, I was expecting to start a research project that had already been conducted. I was going to be in charge of analyzing the data and translating it into a study. I was along for the experience and was thankful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and more importantly prepare for graduate level expectations. Though a new door opened up and I couldn't be more excited to share my new research study and the benefits that come along with it.
My mentor Dr. April Bleske-Rechek and I had a meeting at the beginning of this semester (Spring 2021). She proposed a new research idea, one where we would start from scratch and together we would learn about the topic and put together a study to conduct in the summer. This research topic focuses on physician burn out and how to reduce it by incorporating the 'seven drivers'. Though we are also curious to look at other fields other than physicians like professors at the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire. The seven drivers include workload and job demands, efficiency and resources, meaning in work, culture and values, control and flexibility, social support and community at work, and work life integration.
Not only do I get to learn first hand how to conduct research from scratch but I get to team up with Eau Claire Mayo physicians and expand my network. They've been wanting to become more of a research hospital so, they were looking to partner up with a faculty member from the university.
